ADVERSITY KILLER OF DECEMBER

ADVERSITY KILLER OF DECEMBER

Johnny Collins

We are grateful Mr. Collins has allowed us to share his testimony of the toughest time he has ever faced on our blog as the first Adversity Killer of the month! Mr.Collins endured some of his toughest moments as he battled for his life in the intensive care unit at a hospital in Miami, Florida. He deals with a weak heart and on one terrible afternoon he had to be rushed to the hospital because of chest pain. On the way to the hospital his heart completely stopped 3 separate times for a total of 11 minutes. Miraculously Mr. Collins was able to walk out of the hospital exactly 1 week later, which the doctors considered remarkable! "A recovery they've never seen in 12+ years working in the hospital." What makes this testimonial extra special is that not only did the doctors say they have never seen someone recover so quickly, they were also very impressed by the fact that Mr.Collins did not suffer from any side affects after not having oxygen to the brain for 11 minutes total. According to Medlineplus.Gov, Time is very important when an unconscious person is not breathing. Permanent brain damage begins after only 4 minutes without oxygen, and death can occur as soon as 4 to 6 minutes later. When the brain doesn’t get enough oxygen, brain cells begin to die. Cell death happens within 5 minutes of low oxygen. Severe oxygen deprivation can cause life-threatening problems including coma and seizures. After 10 minutes without oxygen, brain death occurs. Brain death means there is no brain activity. A person needs life support measures like a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe and stay alive. Mr. Collins was in the ICU on a ventilator and walked out of the hospital 7 days later unscathed; No vision, hearing, or memory loss which is common when the brain is deprived of oxygen.

Mr. Collins is truly the definition of an Adversity Killer showing strength and courage in such a difficult time of his life. We are honored to be able to share his story to the world with hopes to motivate anyone who may be dealing with something similar or facing hardship in general and could use the motivation! Tough times don't last, tough people do!

Keep killing Adversity Mr. Collins!
